So as expected our adventure is fast approaching and with 2 weeks to go its time to get stuck into the things that have to be done last minute. Over the next 2 weeks we will be posting our plans for each country, and would love insights from anyone reading this who has been there.
We have also both increased the amount of exercise we are doing in order to best prepare us for altitude. Apparently altitude affects each person differently, but we figure the fitter we are, the better our bodies will be able to cope with reduced oxygen.
Since the last post we have:
- Finished vaccinations
- Purchased Kindles
- Started selling our furniture
- Organised removalist/storage
- Bought first aid kit
- Prepared a more detailed itinerary for us
- Bought anti-malaria drugs (Malarone is the best on the market, but be warned, it is very pricey and cannot be obtained in South America. We need 2 months worth each and it cost about $600AUD. If you are at altitudes >1500m you generally don’t have to worry about malaria either)
Still to do:
- Buy International Sim Card
- Sell the rest of our furniture
- Finalise everything at work
- Prepare apartment to move out/start packing (Chrissy has already left her work so she will be doing most of this)
